This September I will be joining the Victoria Grandmothers for Africa 275 Km Cycle Tour. It is 3 day event down Vancouver Island from Campbell River to Victoria. It is my second time to take part. The photos are from the finish of the 2015 event. I am delighted to be able to ride with the Grandmothers again this year. We began our training in April, riding every week, to be ready to ride 90 to 100 kms per day.
We are riding to support the Grandmother To Grandmother Campaign of the Stephen Lewis Foundation. Many grandmothers in Sub Saharian Africa are still struggling to raise grandchildren having lost there own children to HIV/AIDS. The foundation supports many grassroots initiatives that make a huge difference in the lives of these hard working women and their grandchildren. It has a very personal connection for me as we lived in Africa for 3 years and saw the very great needs there.
I am asking for your help in supporting this very needed work. To make a donation, please click on the green 'Donate Now' button above the thermometer. It’s simple, fast and totally secure and will make such a difference to the grandmothers of Africa and the children in their care. A tax receipt will be sent to your email for all donations of $20 or more.
Thank you for your consideration of this worthy project and for supporting me.
