The Victoria Grandmothers for Africa are attempting a Virtual Walk around the projects in Africa that are supported by the Stephen Lewis Foundation. We would love for you to join us and have your steps counted as we travel the 10 000 Km.
A Virtual Walk is one in which instead of walking on one specific day, Grandmothers walk over several weeks and use pedometers or other technology to record their steps or distance. That means you can walk, cycle, or swim wherever and whenever you want.
We are starting our Virtual Walk on February 14, 2018 and will complete our walk on Earth Day, April 22, 2018. It will be approximately 9 weeks.
Registration for the event is $20.00 for each walker. After registering you will receive a package with tracking booklet, map,and pledge forms. The pledge forms are if you would like to ask people to support you or make a donation.
Our “soft”kick off walk takes place on February 14th at 10:00 am. We will be gathering at the Petting Zoo in Beacon Hill Park and walking to Ogden Point for coffee. Fingers crossed for nice weather. Wear your shirts, scarves and of course raingear if need be.
