We are a group of women, age 55 and up, who are cycling from Campbell River to Victoria to raise funds for the Grandmothers to Grandmothers campaign of the Stephen Lewis Foundation. The campaign supports grandmothers in sub-Saharan Africa who are raising their grandchildren orphaned as a result of the AIDS pandemic. This is the 12th annual ride and we have raised a total of almost $700,000. The money goes directly into the hands of African grandmothers and the grassroots organizations supporting them at the frontlines of the AIDS pandemic.
The ride is September 7 - 9 and we will be supported by Grandmothers groups along the way. We will be cycling with our African sisters in our hearts and thinking of their strength and determination. There will be a Welcome Home gathering at Centennial Square starting at 2:15 on September 9 and riders from both the 50 km and 275 km Cycle Tours arriving at 3:00 pm. Everyone is welcome.
We are asking you—our friends, family and colleagues—to support us to reach our fundraising goal.
To make a donation to the event as a whole, please click on the green ‘Donate Now’ button. To donate to an individual rider, click on their name which will take you to their personal page. It’s simple, fast and totally secure and will make such a difference to the grandmothers of Africa and the children in their care.
