About the Campaign
Victoria Grandmothers for Africa 50 km Cycle Tour's Page
On September 8 we will once again be cycling 50 km around the Saanich Peninsula and into Victoria to support the inspiring transformation in sub-Saharan Africa where community based organizations, run by and for Grandmothers, are working to turn the tide of HIV and AIDS. In the midst of the AIDS pandemic the grandmothers of Africa are an inspiration. They are recognized as community experts and vital agents of change in their communities. With the impact of Cyclone Idai being felt in Malawi, Mozambique and Zimbabwe the need for support is even greater.
The cyclists participating in this event are all women over fifty five and are riding in support of our grandmother sisters in Africa. Over the last 12 years the 50 km and 275 km Cycle Tours have raised over $600,000 for the Stephen Lewis Foundation Grandmothers to Grandmothers campaign. We are asking you—our friends, family and colleagues—to support us to reach our fundraising goal.
Together we can turn the tide!
To make a donation to the event as a whole, please click on the green ‘Donate Now’ button above the thermometer. To donate to a team member click on their name to go to their personal page. It’s simple, fast and totally secure and will make such a difference to the grandmothers of Africa and the children in their care.
Please join us for the Welcome Home Celebration on Sunday, September 8 at Centennial Square 2:15 - 3:30.
Cyclists in both the 50 km and 275 km Cycle Tours arrive at 3:00.
